Police have confirmed that a baby was taken to hospital following a crash near Chippenham.

999 crews were called to the A4 Bath Road, in Chequers Hill, shortly before 11am today (Tuesday).

Three vehicles – a black Volvo XC90, a black Land Rover Discovery and a bleu Skoda Fabia – were involved in the road traffic collision on the crossroads for Biddestone/Easton.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that a baby was taken to hospital following the incident – however, they are not believed to be injured.

“There were no reported injuries, however a baby was taken to hospital to be checked over”, they said.

Adding: “The road was closed to allow for recovery of the vehicles and has since reopened.”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent one crew, from Corsham, to the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “A crew from Corsham attended a three vehicle road traffic collision on Bath Road, Chippenham after we received a 999 call at 10.55am this morning.

“Nobody was trapped so firefighters supported the ambulance service with casualty care and made the scene safe.”

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed it sent two ambulances – with one patient taken to hospital.
