Three people have been stabbed during a violent disorder in central Swindon.

Emergency services were called to reports of the incident unfolding in Alfred Street at around 2pm this afternoon (Sunday, 13 November).

Manchester Road was cordoned off by police during the early stages of the incident

Three ambulances attended the scene and it’s believed all three casualties were taken to hospital with non-life threatening knife wounds.

A man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and has been taken to Gablecross custody for questioning.

At least one person has been arrested in connection with the stabbing

Alfred Street and part of Manchester Road was cordoned off as police dealt with the incident. Manchester Road opened at around 3.45pm.

Alfred Street remains closed, and cordons aren’t expected to be lifted for several hours.

A number of first aid kits can be seen on the ground within the crime scene

Inspector Steve Love said: “We do not believe this to be a random attack although it is very early stages of our investigation.

”Residents can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area while enquiries are carried out this afternoon and over the coming days. If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call 101 and quote log number 195 of November 13. Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
