A skate park in Swindon has been cordoned off as a crime scene following a serious incident.

Emergency services were called to Rivermead Skatepark, off Rivermead Drive in Westlea, at around 6pm today (Monday, 29 August).

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that a male victim was robbed of his electric bicycle by three males riding their own electric bicycles and armed with weapons.

Wiltshire 999s understands armed police officers were deployed to the scene.

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter from Oxford was also tasked with the suspect search.

The helicopter appeared to focus on the Pinehurst and Penhill areas — which was coupled with a large police presence across both housing estates.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and a cordon is currently in place”, a spokesperson for the force said.

They added: “We’d urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have information, to call 101 immediately and quote log number 253 of August 29.”
