Three people, including a child, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Devizes.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was struck by a car in the Station Road area at around 8.45pm on Wednesday night (27 July).

The vehicle, a white Ford Fiesta, was driven away from the scene, and the casualty was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol – where he is in a critical condition.

“The driver of the car involved in the collision fled the scene, although the vehicle, a white Ford Fiesta, was later found abandoned”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

Adding: “This afternoon (28/07) officers attended an address in the town and arrested a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy, all on suspicion of attempted murder.

“They also arrested a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender. They are all currently in police custody.”

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police are asked to call Central CID on 101, quoting crime reference 54220079230. Alternatively, you can call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
