Four people were injured in a serious collision near Bradford on Avon late last night.

Emergency services were called to the B3109 in South Wraxall shortly before midnight following a report that a Volkswagen Golf travelling north had crashed into a tree.

Two female passengers, aged 19 and 20, suffered extensive internal injuries described as potentially life-threatening, and were taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment.

Two other passengers, a man and a woman both aged 20, sustained serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for assessment.

A man, in his 20s from Trowbridge, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was also taken to the RUH for assessment and will be taken to Melksham custody once fit to be discharged.

Police are urgently appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage to contact us immediately by calling 101 and quoting log number 350 of May 31.
