A body has been found in a search for a missing man from a village near Wiltshire.

David Thompson was reported missing from an address in Lambourn, situated two miles from the county border near Hungerford, on Thursday.

Thames Valley Police and local search and rescue teams have been conducting extensive operations in a bid to locate the young man over the past two days.

However, the force has since confirmed that a body – which they believed to belong to David – has been found.

“It is with regret that we confirm a body has been found in connection with a missing person investigation”, a police spokesperson announced.

Adding: “David Thompson was reported missing from Lambourn in Berkshire.

“Sadly, the body of a man has been found near Lambourn. Although formal identification is yet to take place, we believe the body is that of David Thompson.

“David’s next of kin have been informed.”
