The High Street in Royal Wootton Bassett has been closed following a serious collision.

Emergency services are currently attending an injured pedestrian, who has been hit by a lorry, near the junction with Station Road.

Great Western Air Ambulance medics are on scene, with the helicopter touching down in a field off Tanners Close.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with a collision in Royal Wootton Bassett High Street involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

“As a result, the High Street has been closed at the Whitehill Lane and New Road junction to the Boroughfields roundabout while the scene is cleared.”

Motorists are being advised to find any alternative route whilst emergency services work at the scene.

“Due to an accident outside Bevirs Solicitors, RWB High Street is currently closed to traffic”, local councillor Steve Bucknell said.

Adding: “Police and emergency services are in attendance directing traffic, but it is best to avoid the area.”
