A man accused of a ‘campaign of violence’ against his girlfriend has been remanded in custody at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

Lee Griffiths, 43, of Milton Road, Swindon, has been charged with a series of offences against a woman – including two counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Prosecutor Keith Ballinger alleged the defendant broke his girlfriend’s arm by pulling it until it snapped on 5 September last year, before breaking her nose by punching her on 30 December.

He is also alleged to have assaulted her on two other occasions (27 and 29 December), in which she sustained less serious injuries.

On 5 January, Griffiths was arrested when police were called to Milton Road where he’s allegedly threatened to kill the woman and threatened to burn down her and her sister’s homes.

Mr Ballinger labelled the alleged offending a ‘campaign of violence’ and asked the bench to send the case to Swindon Crown Court.

No bail application was made by defence solicitor Gordon Hotson and Griffiths was remanded in custody.

He will next appear at Swindon Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing in February.
