A biker has been rushed to hospital following a serious road traffic collision near Cricklade.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the emergency services that raced to the incident on the B4553 this evening (24 November).

Police closed to main road between Purton and Cricklade whilst 999 crews work at the scene crash involving a car and a motorcyclist.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service says firefighters extinguished a motorcycle that had burst into flames following the impact.

A 17-year-old boy was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol – the closest major trauma centre – with leg injuries.

The occupants of the car did not suffer any notable injuries.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Shortly after 5pm, a BMW was travelling from Chelworth Business Park towards the staggered crossroads, when it was in collision with a motorcyclist who was travelling north from Purton on the B4553.

“The rider, who is from Cricklade, suffered a serious injury to his leg and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by air ambulance.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, including anyone who may have dash cam footage. Call 101 and quote log number 195 of November 24.”
