A man has appeared in court charged with brutally stabbing his friend just four days after he allegedly burgled a pharmacy.

Richard Hall, 38, is accused of knifing Adrian Bryan in the chest and neck multiple times after the victim asked him to leave his home on Saturday (13 November).

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (16 November), the defendant, of Twickenham Close, gave no indication of pleas.

Keith Ballinger, prosecuting, claimed Hall broke into Lloyds Pharmacy, in Shaw Village Centre, and stole £5057.68 worth of medication with two accomplices on 9 November.

It’s alleged that four days later, he visited Mr Bryan, aged in his 40s, at his address in Castleton Road, Middleleaze, in what was described as an “emotional state”.

Mr Bryan allowed him into the property and they had a cup of tea together, but it’s claimed that he later located Hall in his bathroom going through a haul of medications.

Mr Ballinger told the court that Hall was told to leave the property – but he refused, instead stabbing Mr Bryan in the neck and chest multiple times.

Police officers rushed to the scene after neighbours reported the commotion and they located the victim with knife wounds before he was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

Magistrates remanded Hall in custody to appear at Swindon Crown Court on 17 December. He faces charges of grievous bodily harm with intent, burglary, theft and possession of heroin.

Mark Glendenning appeared for the defence.
