There are severe delays on Great Western Way after a lorry became stuck under a bridge.

Police have closed Corporation Street in one direction, towards Swindon town centre, at around 1pm this afternoon (29 September).

The Luton-style van became wedged under Whitehouse Bridge.

The road is expected to remain blocked for some time whilst recovery work is undertaken.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision at Whitehouse Bridges, Corporation Street, in Swindon, where a van has collided with the bridge.

“Nobody is believed to be injured, but traffic is building up in the area, so motorists are advised to find alternative routes.”
