A partial closure order has been authorised for an address in Swindon to help tackle criminal activity in the area.

The order was made at Swindon Magistrates Court today (21 September) for the house in Studland Close, Park South, and will last for three months.

It means that only the people living there will be allowed to enter the property – with exceptions for care workers, Swindon Borough Council and the emergency services. Anyone else who enters the address will be committing an offence and could be arrested.

PC Grant Hesketh from the Swindon Community Policing Team said: “The court recognised the serious impact that the behaviour of groups visiting the house has been having on both the occupants and the local community.

“The application of the Closure Order has allowed us to promptly respond to community concerns and provide additional policing powers to tackle the problems.

“This order is not the first for the address and moving forward, we are committed to working with the landlord, Swindon Borough Council, to develop a long term working strategy and solution to the problem.

“Local Community Policing Team officers will continue to conduct regular welfare checks at the address to ensure the order is being adhered to, and the welfare of the people living there is not being put at risk.”
