A hedgehog was reportedly found decapitated in a field in Amesbury last week.

A local resident took to social media to ask the perpetrator to stop killing the prickly animals and leaving their insides strewn across green space near the cricket club in Archers Gate.

The gruesome discovery was made on Sunday (5 September), where it’s claimed the hedgehog’s head was removed and its internal organs placed in a neat line next to it.

Not everybody believed it to be the work of a human, but another local was quick to point out that she had spotted teenage boys playing football with one prior to the tragedy.

“Almost every serial killer in history started off by being cruel to animals”, one person said.

Another added: “It’s more of a concern they are removing the innards and placing them in a line, that’s got psycho written all over it.”

The incident was reported to Wiltshire Police.
