A man’s been rushed to hospital after falling from scaffolding in a Swindon park.

Emergency services were called to the incident at the Town Gardens, Westlecot Road, shortly before 11am this morning.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was tasked with the incident, landing in a field off Quarry Road at around 11.10am, so the charity’s critical care medics could provide specialist treatment. However, after touching down, the team were diverted to a more serious medical emergency elsewhere.

It’s understood the scaffolding the male was working on collapsed.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent at least one fire crew to assist at the scene, alongside police officers who were also in attendance.

The casualty was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.48am about an incident in Town Gardens, Swindon. We were informed someone had fallen from scaffolding.

“We treated an injured male patient at the scene, and transported him to hospital by land ambulance for further care.”.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “One crew from Swindon attended the incident involving a scaffold collapse but did not need to carry out any action.

“The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service.”
