Penhill armed robbery suspect arrested at gunpoint by firearms cops in Swindon

A man was arrested at gunpoint by firearms cops in Swindon this afternoon following an armed robbery.

Arriving in convoy, several Armed Response Vehicles pulled up outside an address in the Ramsbury Avenue area of Penhill before ordering a man to put his hands up and lay on the floor.

Officers arrested the 38-year-old local on suspicion of four counts armed robbery this afternoon. The latest relates to the incident at McColl’s in Penhill Drive yesterday evening.

DI Joe Saunders said:  “We would like to thank the general public for their help with our enquiries on this case so far.

“We would like to still appeal for any witnesses who haven’t come forward yet to do so.
