Police in Swindon have secured a second partial close order on an address in the Railway Village.

The order is now in place on a property in Faringdon Road to safeguard the occupant and to protect the nearby residents from anti-social behaviour and drug activity.

Back in April, officers managed to secure the same order on a property in Exeter Street.

The new order will be in place for three months, meaning anyone other than the resident is prevented from entering the property. By doing so, they could be committing an offence and may be arrested.

Neighbourhood officer for the Railway Village, PC Finning stated: “Closure orders of this nature are a valuable tool for protecting vulnerable residents and keeping out drug gangs.

“This is the second closure order on the address which has been deemed necessary as a result of the welfare visits we have been regularly conducting.

“Swindon Borough Council are already taking further protective measures and along with partner agencies we are working for an efficient, long term solution to what can be a complex problem.

“This is the 17th order of this nature that Swindon Police have obtained in 2020 and it is an exceptionally effective tool in protecting the most vulnerable in our society and disrupting destructive behaviour that can really have a negative impact on the whole community.”

If you have concerns that a neighbour or someone in your street is involved in drug dealing or is being cuckooed, please call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
