Residents forced to clean up as teenagers fill children’s play area with rubbish

Residents were forced to clean up after a children’s play area was filled rubbish this morning.

The police were called when locals witnessed a group of youths spreading approximately six bin bags full of Christmas waste around the small park in Old Walcot at around 2am.

But they say police officers never arrived to deal with the unruly teens near Lainsmead Primary School.

At 10am this morning, two residents who didn’t personally witness the incident overnight, equipped themselves with brooms, shovels and litter picks to clean up the site themselves.

Brian (pictured right) is often seen litter picking the area, and has arranged for Swindon Borough Council to collect the rubbish once it is bagged up following their efforts today.

Locals say teenagers causing mayhem in the popular children’s play area is a regular occurrence, but they feel there’s not much that can be done to tackle the issue.
