Woman sexually assaulted on train between Bristol and Westbury

A woman has been sexually assaulted on a train between Bristol and Westbury.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, which happened on Saturday 18 March, on a train travelling between Bristol and Portsmouth.

The 24-year-old victim was inappropriately touched by a man who has been described as being European , in his mid 20’s, of slim build and with dark short wavy hair, he was wearing blue jeans and carrying a black and white bag on board the 5.23pm service as it approached Westbury.

A spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have been on the service who may be able to help us with our enquires.

“After the incident took place a woman on the train asked the victim if she was ok before she left the service at Southampton. Was that you? If it was please come forward.”

PC Amy Perry said, “We take all reports of sexual assault extremely seriously and we will do everything in our power to identify the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who was on the train who witnessed the incident, or the woman who spoke to the victim after her harrowing ordeal, to please contact us. “
