A man’s sustained a serious arm injury after being shot with an arrow in Swindon.

The 68-year-old man was chatting to a neighbour in his front garden in The Broadway, when the arrow flew from the sky and pierced his arm, leaving him in excruciating pain.

It happened on The Broadway, which is mostly home to elderly residents, between 4-5pm yesterday.

Det Con Nigel Bullimore said: “It is believed that this arrow may have been fired from the Thames Avenue area into The Broadway and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, noticed anything unusual in the area around this time, or anyone who was travelling down Thames Avenue around this time and has dash-cam footage which could help our investigation.

“Please call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190003148 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
