A teacher and her unborn baby have died in a serious crash near Warminster yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the serious collision involving two vehicles, a black Porsche Cayenne and a grey Peugeot, close to Black Dog Hill on the A36 at around 1pm on Tuesday.

The driver of Peugeot, named locally as 34-year-old Anna Kirsopp-Lewis who worked as a teacher at Frome College, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering ‘significant injuries’.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that her unborn baby also died as a result of the collision.

“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this extremely difficult time. They are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer”, a spokesperson said.

The driver of the Porsche, a 62-year-old man from the Bath area, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries. He is said to be in a critical condition.

Sgt Andy Moreton said: “This is an extremely upsetting incident and our thoughts are very much with the family of the woman involved at this time.

“As part of our investigation to determine exactly what caused this collision, we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle immediately before.

“As well as this, we’d like anyone with dash cam footage who was in the area of the A36 near Warminster at around 1pm on Tuesday, to please get in touch immediately. You may have footage which could significantly help with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should contact Tri-Force on 101, quoting Log 144 of Tuesday 18 December. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
