Sergeant Peter Tuite has retired from Wiltshire Police after a career spanning 43 years in uniformed public service.
His service included 22 years in the military before he joined Wiltshire Police, where he spent a further 21 years serving communities across the county.
During his time with the force, Peter worked in a number of roles, including Response Policing, Firearms, Neighbourhood Policing and Operational Training.
He became a respected figure within the force, supporting frontline officers at critical incidents, mentoring colleagues and helping train the next generation of police officers.
As Chief Taser Instructor, Peter played a key role in improving officer safety, overseeing the introduction of both the Taser X2 and Taser 10 programmes.
He also provided leadership to the Operational Training Team during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring officers continued to receive essential training and support despite the challenges.
His commitment to public service was recognised on a national level, including representing Wiltshire Police at The Queen’s Royal Garden Party and attending the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
Earlier this year, Peter was awarded the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in recognition of his dedication.
Wiltshire Police has thanked Peter for his 21 years with the force and wished him a long and happy retirement.
