A serious crash has shut the A350 in both directions for the ‘foreseeable future’.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the major route near Lacock at around 3pm this afternoon (Tuesday).
The incident is believed to involve a single vehicle, with one person in a life-threatening condition.
They are currently receiving treatment from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance’s critical care team, supported by local 999 crews.
Wiltshire Police say the road is to remain closed – between Lackham Roundabout in Chippenham and Leekes roundabout in Melksham – for some considerable time.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Please be aware we are currently attending a serious collision on the A350 just north of Beanacre.
“We have put a full closure in place between Leekes Roundabout and Lackham Roundabout near Chippenham.
“The road is likely to be closed for the foreseeable future. Please find alternate routes.”
