A major incident has been declared as firefighters are stretched amid multiple fires.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) are struggling with the intense demand on fire crews at present.
According to Swindon Fire Station, a major incident has been declared in the county. Further details are yet to be released by DWFRS.
One significant fire currently being battled is near Westbury White Horse – with crews from across Wiltshire responding.
A spokesperson announced that Swindon Borough Council has banned BBQs at all country parks with immediate effect.
A statement reads: “Our colleagues from SBC have asked us to provide the following update in relation to bbqs at their country parks.
“All BBQs are now banned with immediate effect at all SBC country parks. This is in response to continued dry weather and high wildfire alerts.
“Dorset and Wiltshire have declared a major incident in response to the demands on our service at this time and we ask our community to do all they can to protect our resources and our environment.
“This includes all BBQs (not just disposable ones). Please help to keep our community and environment safe. Thank you.”
