Beloved White Horse under threat as wildfire rages across hillside

Emergency services are currently responding to a wildlife near a White Horse in Wiltshire.

Fire crews have been deployed to tackle the flames on a hillside near Bratton, Westbury.

The incident started at around 4.30pm – with firefighters now on scene battling the blaze.

According to locals, the fire appears to be moving towards the beloved landmark.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service: “Crews are currently in attendance at a large field and grassland fire surrounding Westbury White Horse.

“There is a large amount of smoke; please avoid the area whilst firefighters bring this incident under control.

“Anyone concerned should keep windows and doors closed.”
