A Melksham woman stole almost £1,800 from her elderly grandmother.
Rhiannan Wiltshire admitted using the 84-year-old’s bank card over a period of more than seven months – between September 2024 and April 2025.
The 28-year-old defendant, of Gladstone Road, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation and was sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates Court on 7 August this year.
Wiltshire repeatedly dipped into her grandmother’s life savings, taking a total of £1,790.03.
Magistrates ordered the woman to return the victim’s money but paying £1,790 in compensation, which will be deducted from her benefits.
An application for a restraining order was refused by the court after it found that it was not proportionate or necessary in the circumstances.
The court record also states: “If Grandmother has already received the money from the bank, it will be up to her to repay the bank.”
