A man has been arrested after police smashed through a door in a raid in Warminster.

Wiltshire 999s was invited to join officers as they executed a drugs warrant at a terraced house in the garrison town this morning (Wednesday).

Following a briefing about the suspect and other occupants of the property – including children and dogs – the team drove to the address and forced entry.

Concerns were raised about one of two dogs believed to be at the address, so three dog handlers were on hand to secure the pets to ensure the safety of officers.

Once inside, a man – aged in his 40s – was detained while searches were carried out. A police dog was used to sniff out potential evidence.

A number of drug-related items, a small amount of suspected cocaine and three bladed weapons were seized. At least two of the blades appeared to be samurai swords.

The suspect was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of a Class B drug, namely cannabis.

He remains in custody for questioning. The investigation continues.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the supply of cocaine and possession of cannabis.

“Officers carried out a drug warrant in Warminster this morning.

“The man has been released on bail while further enquiries are ongoing.

“We were joined by journalists from local news outlets, who observed how our Neighbourhood Policing Teams work alongside specialist officers and partners to tackle crime within the community.

“If you suspect drug dealing is taking place in your area, please let us know. Call 101, or 999 in an emergency. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
