UPDATE: Woman killed in A419 crash as van smashes into broken down car
The A419 in Swindon is closed after a serious crash involving a car and a van.
Emergency services were called to the flyover above White Hart Roundabout at around 8.30am this morning (Friday).
The incident involved a white Vauxhall Vivaro van and a silver hatchback on the northbound carriageway.
It appears the van struck the rear of the hatchback, causing significant damage.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance landed on the southbound, with the charity’s critical care medics treating a single casualty for life-threatening injuries.
Wiltshire Police has launched an investigation, with the road closed for forensic examination of the scene. Closures are likely to last around 12 hours.
In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for the force said: “A closure is currently in place in both directions on the A419 at the White Hart Roundabout in Swindon following a collision which occurred just before 8.30am today (05/06).
“Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route while emergency services attend the scene.”
