UPDATE: Boy, 4, and woman, 19, struck by van after alighting bus in Swindon
Two people hit by a van on a busy Swindon route are believed to be in critical condition.
Three air ambulance teams were scrambled to a serious road traffic collision in Dorcan Way shortly before 6.30pm this evening (Friday).
The incident involved a white Ford Transit van and two pedestrians, whose age and sex are yet to be confirmed, outside the Holiday Inn.
Great Western Air Ambulance (GWAAC) and Thames Valley Air Ambulance helicopters landed nearby, coupled with a GWAAC rapid response vehicle.
At least seven critical care medics were seen providing urgent treatment to the injured pedestrians in the road, alongside ambulance crews, police officers and members of the public.
Both casualties – who are believed to be in critical condition – were rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further care.
A forensic collision investigation is underway. A road closure between Coate Water Roundabout and Snodshill Roundabout is likely to remain in place until tomorrow morning.
The Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wiltshire Police is calling on witnesses or anyone with relevent dashcam footage to get in touch.
