Busy road through village near Melksham shut after 999 incident

A 999 incident has closed a busy road through a village near Melksham.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Atworth, on the A365 Bath Road, at around 3pm this afternoon (Monday).

Motorists are being diverted away from the area – having to detour via Broughton Common and Norrington Common.

Locals claim a person has been hit by a vehicle outside Snapdragons Nursery.

Further details about the nature of the emergency are unclear at this stage.
