A baby goose has been rescued after a suspect collision with an electric scooter.

The young bird was found injured at Claridges Pond in Stratton St Margaret, Swindon.

It’s believed it had been hurt as a result of electric scooters and anti-social behaviour in the area.

Stratton St Margaret Parish Council confirmed that its groundsman stepped in to help retrieve the gosling – who sustained a fracture and needed urgent vet care.

The bird has since been taken to Oak and Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre, where staff are providing specialist treatment.

In a statement, Stratton St Margaret Parish Council said: “We would like to give a huge thank you to our groundsman who helped rescue a baby gosling from Claridges Pond after it was found injured, sadly believed to be the result of electric scooters/anti-social behaviour around the area.

“The gosling has suffered a fracture along with soft tissue injuries and needed urgent attention.

“We’re very grateful that the team at Oak & Furrows Wildlife Rescue in Cricklade are now providing the specialist care it needs.

“It’s in safe hands and we are happy to report that he is hopefully going to make a full recovery.

“We kindly ask everyone to respect our shared spaces and the wildlife that call them home. Small actions can make a big difference.”
