A drone unit has helped catch two e-bike riding drug dealers in Melksham.
After constant reports about the balaclava-clad suspects plaguing the town with anti-social behaviour, Wiltshire Police have taken action.
A day of proactive policing in Melksham, supported by officers from Trowbridge and the drone unit, saw two illegal electric bike riders taken into custody.
The pair, who were using Sur-Ron vehicles, were arrested for dangerous driving and possession of class B drugs.
After attending an associated address in the town, officers discovered evidence of drug supply.
As a result, the occupant was arrested for possession with intent to supply. The e-bike riders were further arrested for the offence too. They’ve seen been released on bail.
It’s understood that the Sur-Rons have been seized and will be destroyed.
Sgt Gemma Rutter said: “Thank you to the Melksham community for supplying us with the information required to catch these criminals.
“The public are fed up of seeing these bikes being ridden dangerously and unlawfully and we will ensure we maintain our momentum on bringing them to justice
“We do not want drugs on our streets or the dangerous activities and ASB that is so intrinsically linked to drugs.”
