A kettle blunder sparked a fire service response in Bradford on Avon.
Emergency services were called to a residential address following reports of alarms sounding at around 8.50pm on Wednesday (25 March).
Firefighters from Bradford on Avon Fire Station were dispatched to investigate.
The building was smoke-logged and the cause was a plastic kettle, which had been left to burn on a ceramic hob.
A spokesperson for the station said: “Crews ventilated the property by opening windows and ensured it was clear of toxic fumes prior to leaving.
“Thankfully there were no injuries, and alarms activated as they should do.
“This incident serves as a reminder to always turn off appliances when not in use and keep items away from hot surfaces. A simple mistake can lead to a fire.”
