A suspect has been arrested after six people were assaulted in Bradford on Avon.
Police were called to a serious incident at the health centre and pharmacy in Station Approach shortly after 6pm on Tuesday evening (17 March).
Officers found that a man had caused damage to both properties, and stolen medication. Members of staff and patients were also assaulted.
The suspect is understood to have fled the scene, with the National Police Air Service helicopter deployed to carried out an urgent search.
A man, aged in his 30s from Bradford on Avon, was arrested on suspicion of six counts of common assault, criminal damage, affray, theft and assault of an emergency worker.
He is currently in Melksham custody for questioning.
In a statement shortly after the incident, a spokesperson for Bradford on Avon Health Partnership confirmed the surgery would be closed today (Wednesday).
They said: “Due to an incident resulting in damage to the Health Centre this evening we will be closed tomorrow Wednesday March 18th.
“All face to face appointments have been moved to telephone appointments and our team are contacting all patients to inform them.
“The practice doors will be closed due to damage caused this evening we are aiming to reopen on Thursday.
“St Margarets and Winsley will be open for those who have appointments. If you do not have an appointment, please do not attend as we have reduced staff tomorrow.
