Chippenham house ‘explosion’ sparks huge emergency response

An ‘explosion’ at a house in Chippenham has sparked a huge emergency response.

999 crews raced to reports of the serious incident at a property in Orchard Crescent at around 3.15pm this afternoon (Thursday).

Eight police vehicles, two fire engines, four fire cars, an ambulance and an ambulance rapid response vehicle are at the scene by 3.30pm.

One person is believed to have been injured and was being treated by paramedics.

Wiltshire Police is asking the public to abide by the cordons and avoid the area.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We are currently attending an incident in Orchard Crescent, Chippenham in support of Fire and Ambulance Service colleagues.

“Members of the public should abide by the cordons that have been put in place and avoid the area to allow emergency services to attend.”

The force said that an update on the incident would follow in due course.
