A punter has been jailed for attacking staff during his ejection from a Wiltshire pub.
David Strain grabbed a staff member around the throat on 23 October 2025, and assaulted others when they tried to help.
Salisbury Crown Court heard how the pub staff attempted to eject the 53-year-old from The Bridge Tap pub in Fisherton Street, Salisbury.
The defendant, of Ashley Avenue, Belfast, was arrested a short time later – during which he was abusive towards officers and needed to be restrained.
David Strain pleaded guilty to assaulting a man and a woman by beating, and and intentional non-fatal strangulation.
He was jailed for 12 months and banned from going to The Bridge Tap for two years. He must also pay a £187 surcharge.
PC Mat Jacob said: “We take violence against anyone, whether members of the public or staff working at licensed premises extremely seriously.
“It will never be tolerated.
“Our team of officers is committed to acting quickly and decisively to protect our communities and ensure offenders are held accountable.”
