A police community support officer has been recognised for his actions during an incident in Swindon’s Old Town.

Wiltshire Police announced that PCSO Kuy Harrison, who has ADHD, was honoured at an awards ceremony held at its Devizes HQ in January.

The recognition follows an incident in which a man began behaving in a concerning and threatening manner in Old Town.

Kuy acted swiftly and professionally alongside his team, using calm and clear communication to defuse the situation until officers arrived and made an arrest.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Today we’re celebrating PCSO Kuy Harrison for his exceptional work in Old Town.

“When a man began behaving in a concerning and threatening manner, Kuy acted quickly and professionally alongside his team.

“Through calm and clear communication, they were able to safely defuse the situation until officers arrived and made an arrest.”

They added: “Thanks to their swift actions, no one was harmed – and Kuy has now been formally recognised at an awards ceremony held at Wiltshire Police Headquarters in January.”

Kuy has served with Wiltshire Police for more than 18 years and has received 11 commendations, including seven Chief Constable’s Commendations, for bravery and consistently going above and beyond.

The spokesperson said: “Throughout his career, Kuy has also been diagnosed with PTSD, ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

“Despite these challenges, he continues to progress, achieve and serve our community with pride.

“His story is a reminder that neurodiversity and disability do not limit capability, resilience or excellence – even in demanding frontline roles.

“Kuy is passionate about raising awareness, reducing stigma and empowering others who are neurodivergent or living with disabilities.”
