Firefighters in Calne have responded to three emergency calls – in what is being described as a ‘busy day’ by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The crew were first out the door to a road traffic collision on Oxford Road, Calne, at around 10.45am on Tuesday morning (3 February).
A vehicle overturned in a crash, but the driver had managed to self-extricate before the arrival of firefighters. They were left in the care of the ambulance service.
Firefighters made the scene safe before returning to the station – only to be mobilised a short time later.
At 11.43am, this time they responded to reports of a domestic fire in Rowde, with support from a crew from Devizes Fire Station.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire and cleared smoke from the property. No further details were given about the cause of the fire or any injuries.
The final incident of the day was reported at 2.42pm, when crews were called to a vehicle fire on a farm at Mile Elm.
Two breathing apparatus wearers and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.
Due to a lack of water supply at the location, an additional fire engine was requested from Chippenham to provide more water.
