A man has been crushed by a car in a horror crash at the recycling centre in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision on Cheney Manor Industrial Estate shortly before 1pm this afternoon (Tuesday).
A black Vauxhall Mokka mounted the pavement at Household Waste Recycling Centre, reportedly trapping a man between the car and the railings.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance was deployed, landing at Moredon Sporting Hub.
Critical care medics and local ambulances crews treated a man, aged in his 70s, for potentially life-changing leg injuries.
The victim was rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance for further treatment.
A crime scene was put in place while police awaited updates on the injured man’s condition. The site remained open but visitors the the tip were were not able to use the ramp.
No arrests have been made in connection with the crash. The driver of the car is likely to be interviewed about the incident at a later date.
Swindon Borough Council has been approached for comment.
