A major search is ongoing after an elderly man disappeared from a mental health facility in Wiltshire more than 32 hours ago.
81-year-old Philip was last seen at a NHS care unit in Fountain Way, Salisbury, on Sunday morning (28 December) – with fears he’s trying to get home to his wife in Bath.
The man, who is understood to be vulnerable due to a medical condition, was spotted on CCTV on South Western Road shortly after he went missing.
Philip appears to be wearing a dark coat, jeans and brown shoes. He is described as approximately 5ft 7ins tall, of average build, with white/grey hair.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue volunteers have today (Monday) been deployed by Wiltshire Police in a bid to locate him as concern grows for his welfare.
Inspector Emily Grigor said: “Given his age, we are increasingly concerned for Philip, who has not been seen for 24 hours.
“He left the care unit where he was staying and may be trying to make his way to Bath, where his wife lives.
“We are working with local bus companies and partner agencies to try to find Philip.
“I would urge anyone in the Fountain Way area to check in and around their properties, including gardens, and also review any private CCTV or doorbell footage for sightings of Philip.”
If you see Philip, call 999 quoting log number 121 of 28 December.
