Swindon primary school evacuated over bomb threat hoax

A Swindon primary school was evacuated this morning, following a phone call which stated that a ‘explosive devise’ had been placed on premises.

On receiving the call at 9.30am, 8 March, Ferndale Community Primary School’s senior staff took the decision to immediately remove everyone from the school.

While children were kept in the community hall, Wiltshire police officers combed the school for anything suspicious before declaring it safe at just after 10am.

Headteacher Gary Evans said: “The way the staff responded was impeccable and the children’s behaviour throughout was outstanding. We are very, very proud of them.”

However, some parents have taken to Facebook stating that they are annoyed to have found out nearly four hours after the incident, receiving contact at around 2.30pm.

Dozens of schools across the UK are said to have been targeted by a bomb hoax this morning. Find out more on the Mirror Online website.
