A large fire has broken out on a farm near Chippenham this evening (Thursday).
A black smoke plume can be seen in the skies as firefighters work to tackle the flames at Stowell Farm, in Stowell Lane.
Emergency services were first alerted to the incident – situation just off the A4 between Corsham and Chippenham – at around 5pm.
At least three fire engines are in attendance after tyres caught fire, with more understood to be en route.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson: “We were called at 5:03pm […] with reports of a fire in the open near Stowell Farm, Corsham.
“Two appliances from Chippenham, one from Corsham and a water carrier from Royal Wootton Bassett were mobilised to the incident.
“On arrival crews found a large fire involving some tyres and bracken which was extinguished using two hose reel jets, two main lines and drags. Our stop was in at 9:16pm.”
