£5,000 has been raised for kind-hearted charity fundraiser Luke ‘Skywalker’ Kaye after his Swindon home was burgled whilst he was running a charity event.
The founder of Swindon Film and Comic Con has only recently realised that his home was burgled while he was running the huge event at STEAM over the weekend commencing 3 June, which saw thousands of people attend.
Luke Kaye posted an emotional video on Facebook, stating that he was closing his store, Skywalkers in Swindon, and ‘getting a normal job’ after being devastated by the incident.
In the video, he focused on the fact he was going to let people down; thieves took his disco paperwork – meaning he doesn’t have any information about wedding and party bookings. A large sum of money and products were also stolen from his home during the burglary.
A JustGiving crowdfunding campaign was set up by Deb Cooke in an attempt to raise money for Luke to get back on his feet and keep his much-loved store open.
More than £5,200 has been raised in just a few hours.
