An 18-year-old man denies controlling his girlfriend over the course of ten months.
Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning, Finnley Mapstone, of Osprey Close, Covingham, pleaded not guilty to engage in controlling or coercive behaviour.
Prosecutor Keith Ballinger said the case could be dealt with by summary trial, as the alleged offence was committed when he was a youth.
The defendant is accused of repeatedly or continuously engaging in behaviour that was controlling or coercive during a relationship and that behaviour had a serious effect, or he ought to know had a serious effect, on his alleged victim.
The crime is said to have taken place between 1 October 2020 and 11 August 2021.
A trial date was set for 22 August at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.
He was bailed with conditions not to contact his alleged victim directly or indirectly.
