A Wiltshire man ‘caught with swords and five litres of acid’ is in custody this morning (Monday).

Suspect Jakobus Engelbrecht was stopped driving a Mercedes C200 on the A345 in Oare over a faulty brake light on Saturday 10 August.

Officers are claimed to have found numerous weapons in the vehicle – including a knife, two Samurai swords, a rounders bat, a baseball bat, a whip and a crowbar.

It’s also alleged that five litres of acid were found.

The 48-year-old, of Marlborough Road, Royal Wootton Bassett, was charged with:

– Possession of a knife in a public place x3

– Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place x4

– Possession of a corrosive substance in a public place

– Using a motor vehicle without insurance

– Keeping a vehicle with the registration mark obscured

After failing to attend his first court hearing at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 27 August, he has since been arrested and is now in police custody.

He’s due to appear before the court later today.
