Three men have been arrested following a stabbing in Swindon last night.

At around 11pm, police were called to Beech Avenue, Pinehurst, following a report that a man in his 20s had been assaulted, suffering a puncture wound to his face.

On arrival at the scene, officers arrested three local men, aged 19, 21 and 24, on suspicion of Section 18 Grevious Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent.

The 19-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of a number of other offences in relation to separate incidents – these include attempted GBH, GBH, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and criminal damage to a police vehicle.

Armed police were seen raiding a house in Pinehurst Road following the incident in Beech Avenue. The raid is thought to have been linked to the stabbing.

The police helicopter was over the incident from around 11.45pm.

Insp Paul Hacker said: “This was a nasty incident which left the victim requiring hospital treatment for face and head injuries. Fortunately, these are not believed to be life threatening.

“This type of violence is simply not acceptable and a swift response by officers ensured three individuals were quickly arrested.”

Any witnesses to the incident should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54200059927. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
