A Swindon school will reopen tomorrow after a bomb threat prompted a major emergency response – after police found nothing suspicious during a search.
Officers rushed to Lydiard Park Academy, in Grange Park, at around 9am today (Wednesday) after the school received a concerning email about a suspicious package.
Staff and pupils were swiftly evacuated to a field at the rear of the site as a precaution, and police dogs alongside a specialist search team were deployed.
Emergency services, including fire crews and ambulance teams, set up a rendezvous point nearby while a full search of the premises was carried out.
In a letter to parents, Principal Gary Pearson said: “I am very pleased to announce that the police have concluded their search and found nothing suspicious on the school site.
“Therefore, the school will be open as usual tomorrow morning with the examinations going ahead as planned.”
An investigation into the source of the bomb threat is ongoing.
