A popular Swindon town centre pub has announced its sudden closure.

Cheekies, in Fleet Street, confirmed it is shutting over the rise in running costs – including the price of alcohol.

The establishment was formerly known as The Groves Company Inn, but was rebranded in July 2021.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Cheekies Swindon has had to close its doors for good with prices of everything going up (including alcohol).

“We have made the hard decision to close all staff have been informed and the owner and management wish them all the best in the future with what they choose to do.

“Want to say a huge thank you to our customers over the time we have been here and we wish you all the best.”

Despite the announcement, Wiltshire 999s understands the bar is reopening under the name Remix next week.
