A Swindon man has been jailed after launching a violent attack on a woman.
40-year-old Luke King assaulted his victim, aged in her 30s, before strangling her.
Following the incident in the Thames Valley Police area on 31 January this year, he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and non-fatal intentional strangulation.
Magistrates remanded him in custody to safeguard the victim, who it’s believed he had a relationship with.
At Oxford Crown Court on 23 May, King, of Tudor Walk, Swindon, was jailed for one year and three months following guilty pleas to both offences.
Detective Constable Michael Hopcroft said: “Luke King committed a violent and unacceptable act on his victim.
“This kind of assault and abuse is never acceptable and I hope this conviction and custodial sentence shows that we listen, investigate fully and take every action possible to safeguard victims against offenders.
“I would encourage any victims of assault and abuse to come forward to police or other support agencies.
