The two-day event, on Saturday, 8 and Sunday, 9 February, promises to help kick-start the year by promoting heath, wellness and positive lifestyle changes. Visitors will also be given the opportunity to become more spiritually aware.

Included in the line-up for the inaugural Swindon Wellbeing Festival are a wide variety of dynamic workshops including breathwork, dance flow meditation and a variety of mindful exercises. Visitors will be invited to take part in a ground-breaking sound bath workshop, where participants will experience soothing vibrations and calming sounds from Tibetan bowls, gongs and chimes. The workshops will have a limited capacity with spaces available to book in advance.

Speakers will present engaging talks on a range of topics such as stress relief, changing your mind-set to overcome self-destructive beliefs and how our language posture reflects who we are.

Mini-taster sessions of reflexology, reiki and beauty treatments will be available to try with local physiotherapists, hypnotherapists, fitness coaches and chiropractors on-hand to give advice.

There will be stalls selling items designed to nourish the body and soul including natural remedies, aromatherapy products and crystals. Refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the weekend.

Day tickets for the event cost £17, which includes entry to talks and workshops (subject to availability). Head to the STEAM Museum website for more information and to book tickets.

Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Planning, said: “I’m pleased to see this new event added to the museum’s busy and diverse calendar.

“The early months of the year are always good for some reflection and making positive health choices, and the Wellbeing Festival is sure to have something to interest everyone.

“I’m definitely going to come and have a look at the workshops and listen to some of the talks, and can’t wait to see what else is coming to STEAM later in the year.”
