A second man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Pewsey.

The 29-year-old man from Ramsbury has been taken to Melksham custody for questioning following the serious incident in Olympian Road on 3 October.

A man in his 50s, who was stabbed in the abdomen, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A 31-year-old from Pewsey, who was arrested on 4 October on suspicion of attempted murder, has since been released on bail.

Det Insp Dean Garvin said: “We are grateful to all of the people who have come forward to assist us with our investigation.

“We can’t solve crimes without the help of the public and your information led to our second arrest yesterday evening.

“We are still asking for any witnesses to make contact with us. We are particularly interested to hear from anyone driving in the area at the time, who may have important information captured on a dash camera.

“I want to reassure the local community that we take this matter very seriously. The CID are being supported by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team.

“You may see an increased police presence in the town while we continue our investigation.”

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220104307. Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
